ABOUT

Discover how we shrunk Jean Dujardin in Jan Kounen's The Incredible Shrinking Man using real sets only, no CGI! We created a tailored technical pipeline heavily centered on Flynn, our markerless camera tracking system, and our motion control robots.

Together, they made it possible to:
- Film Jean Dujardin on a blue screen set freely, using any kind of camera rig, while tracking the camera at all times, for each take.
- See a live previsualisation of the actor composited in the real sets, live on set, so that the director could guide Jean Dujardin.
- Replay the exact same camera movements at a smaller scale, using Flynn's data and our motion control robots, in the real sets.
- Fast-track the post-production pipeline: editing began while we were still filming and could be done directly on the livevis compositing; Mac Guff, in charge of VFX, was able to begin earlier than on a regular movie.

We shot almost 300 shots using this workflow: learn more about it in our making of!
