MOTION CONTROL

Discover how our fleet of high-speed motion control can help you take your film to the next level. Our systems are built for filmwork based on feedback from DOPs and directors. These industry machines are fast, precise and reliable: perfect qualities to create innovative and complex visual effects sequences while optimizing production costs.

OUR ROBOTS

Model movers

Who said only cameras could be mounted on motion control ? Our robots also double as model movers, meaning they are able to lift and manipulate all kinds of props. Here are a few examples.

Objects

Want to move an object in a scene? Our motion control have held bottles, knives and much more, in film and advertising. In this ad for Acqua di Gio, we used motion control not only to film the perfume, but also to hold the bottle and flip it upside down.

Lights

Need to move a lightsource in a scene based on specific time cues? As our robots are programmed in software, it makes this setup way easier to put together.

Screen & Mapping

Whether it be for a performance effect of an oniric film sequence, motion control are also able to lift TV screens. Our favorite example of this might be Bot & Dolly’s Box, check it out!

CREATIVE APPLICATIONS

« What can motion control really do? » is one of our most asked questions, when talking with producers and directors. Our fleet of motion control robots are designed and programmed to help filmmakers create a wide variety of effects and take a feature film to the next level. Here are a few examples:

MULTIPASS

Multipass involves filming several passes that are layered in post-production to make up one sequence and achieve a wide variety of effects, such as scale, timing, or cloning. We used it to clone rapper Youssoupha in his music video for Polaroïd Experience.

HIGHSPEED

Motion control are able to move to a speed up to 3m/s, making them the perfect to film slow-motion sequences. There are an infinite number of famous slow-motion sequences in cinema, why not create your own?

IN-CAMERA VFX

LED screens have come a long way since they were first used for the Mandalorian, not so long ago. LED screens and motion control create a blank canvas for multiple effects, with little to no latency. Check out our demo with Pureview.

presto

Thanks to Presto, our Blender add-on, motion control becomes fast & easy.

One key advantage of using motion control robots is that they can be programmed in 3D. Here’s what Presto can do:

PREVIS & TECHVIS

Create 3D previsualisation of a shot ahead of filming: you’re able to see, alter and approve your shots before they’re even filmed, and even know where to place your gear on the day.

FAST & Easy

Easily add robots, lenses, cameras and create a movement that can be instantly transmitted to a motion control. This also means we’re able to do some fine tuning on the day of filming if needed.

Multi-robot

Presto also works with robots outside of our own, such as Mark Roberts, Sisu, Motorized Precision, Microfilm, Technodolly, PTZ… perfect for international collaborations for bigger film productions.

VFX Friendly

We designed Presto with industry standards in mind, so it could easily fit into existing post-production workflows, making it the best tool for complex visual effects sequences.
